Omar Gorib, a Trustee of Takaaful T&T Friendly Society and Returning Officer at the 13^th Annual General Meeting of the Society on Sunday, April 3^rd, admonished the members to elect people who would do a good job.

The Meeting which was held in the Auditorium of the Bureau of Standards at Macoya got underway at 9.10 a.m. with a most beautiful Quranic recitation by youthful Nabeel Ali. Matters on the Agenda then moved along smoothly, with the meeting coming to a close at noon, inclusive of elections. Thirty-six (36) gift baskets contributed by companies and sole traders were distributed while the votes were being counted.

Secretary Manwar Ali presented an encouraging Report of the Board of Management’s achievements during the past year 2010. The Audited Financial Statements for the year ending December 31^st, 2010 were presented by Treasurer Aman Hosein.  Elections conducted by Trustee Omar Gorib saw 3 directors elected for three years and 1 for two years and two substitutes for one year. Veteran Khamal Khan was re-elected to the Board. Zafir Ali and Asif Khan, two UWI graduates and retired Primary School Teacher, Imtiuaz R. Ali were also elected to the Board for the first time while Kameel Mohammed was elected First Substitute and Amir Ali, another UWI graduate, Second Substitute.

The continued sterling efforts of the BOM, members of the various committees and consultants were recognized by members as was the continued generosity of corporations who donated the gift baskets such as S.M. Jaleel & Co. Ltd., M&D, Illuminat T&T Ltd., R. Khan Trading, Mid Eastern Travel Services Ltd., Canamax, Shazam Mohammed Real Estate, Celectricon Enterprises Ltd., Chief Brand Products Ltd., Copitech, Graphic Scripts, Shaffick Hosein & Co. Ltd., HiFashions, Tarac, Jamaludeen Hosein, Kameel Hosein and Kameel Mohammed.

Members were informed of the Society’s Family Day due to take place on May 1^st next at the De Freitas Ranch, Valencia Main Road, Valencia.

Following the AGM, members were provided with lunch and other refreshment and an opportunity to socialize.
