NEMY wins Football Competition
For the past three years, Takaaful T&T has been hosting a five-a-side small-goal night football competition in collaboration with the Trinidad Muslim League Inc. (TML).
This year, the Muslim Credit Union (MCU) was included as a title sponsor. This year, three (3) competitions were held; Senior League and Knockout Competitions and the U-18 Youth Competition.
On Sunday 31st, July, the final of the League competition was contested between Sangre Grande and North Eastern Muslim Youths (NEMY) at the TML Primary School’s Ground. North Eastern Muslim Youths were the eventual champions. Nur-e-Islam Youths was the Knockout champions and Nur-e-Islam Team B was the Youth champions.
This brought seven weeks of exciting football to an end. Sixteen (16) senior teams and five (5) youth teams participated in a total of sixty-one (61) matches in which one hundred and six (106) goals were scored.
At the awards ceremony on July 31st, over five thousand dollars in trophies, medals and cash were handed out.
The committee wishes to thank all the sponsors and donors, all the teams who participated and their supporters, the referees and linesmen, the concessionaire and all those who assisted in the successful running of this year’s competition.
